Event Planning Guidelines

If you would like a designated server for your event, we can make those arrangements for an additional cost. Certain events will require service staff. A TIPS certified bartender is required for all events serving alcohol.
We will be happy to order, receive and handle your specific floral and decorative requests for additional fees determined in accordance with your specific needs.
Upscale disposable serviceware is included with all menu items. China, Linen for food placement tables as well as linen for guest seating can be added for an additional cost. Please contact the Catering Office more information.

Payment, Tax and Gratuity
All on-campus groups are required to provide a department billing code when booking an event, All other parties are required to pay in full by the day of the event. Emerson Catering accepts cash, check, money order, credit card. If you are an Emerson College internal customer, tax is automatically removed from your event.
For external groups, 6.25% state tax and .75% city tax will apply. If you are tax exempt, please provide us with a copy of your tax-exemption certificate to ensure you’re not charged for tax.
All clients interested in serving alcohol at their event must first submit an Alcohol Approval Form located on the school's website. After an approval has been received, it is the client's responsibility to arrange the purchase and delivery of alcohol through Brookline Liquor Mart at 800.456.9463. Trained and experienced staff must be present at each event to manage the service of the alcohol in accordinance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts liquor laws. The Catering department will determine the appropriate number of bartenders for your event. Emerson Catering cannot store any leftover alcohol from any event. Clients must make arrangements to remove remaining alcohol by the end of any event.
Lead Time and Final Counts If you are an internal customer, place your orders online at www.emersoncatering.catertrax.com or you can email your order to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note there is a 25% minimum and late fee for any orders placed less than 24 hours.
Final counts are due (3) Business days prior to an event. The final invoice is based on the guarantee or number of guests in attendance, whichever is greater. We will work with you to minimize cancellation charges, but you will be responsible for costs incurred by the catering department until the time of cancellation. No fee will be assessed for cancellations due to extreme weather or school closings -with proper notification.
You are invited to make arrangements directly with the Director of Catering. Final counts and payment in full are due 5 days prior to the event. Please call 617-824-8065.
Special Arrangements and Last Minute Details
If you need to accommodate a guest with allergies, would like a customized menu or need to make last minute changes, please contact our catering office. We will try to accommodate any reasonable last minute changes to your menu, but we cannot guarantee these changes due to ordering and delivery restraints from our vendors. We may need to make substitutions at our discretion.
Emerson Shoestring Catering is a low-cost, no-frills PICK-UP menu which is ONLY available to:
* Student Government
* Residential Students & Senate
* Registered Student Groups for the enhancement of student social life on campus.
In order to qualify for Shoestring prices, these guidelines need to be followed:
* Order placed at least ONE week prior to the event.
* Food request MUST come from the Shoestring menu.
PLEASE NOTE: Orders placed within 48 hours of the event are NOT eligible for Shoestring pricing.
* All table, chair and trash can set ups are scheduled through the Property Management office.
* All appropriate paper products and disposable tablecloths will accompany orders, based on the amount of food ordered.
* There are additional charges for linen and skirting requests.
Labor and Delivery Costs
* The Shoestring menu is for PICK-UP. Delivery may be requested, based on the availability for an additional fee of $25.00 per order.
